Haflinger horse races
Every year on Easter Monday, the Haflinger horse race city takes place on the Merano horse racing course, which marks the start of the racing season at the Merano horse racing course. The spectacle starts in the morning around 10.30 am, with a festive procession including music bands, floats and of course the famous "Haflinger horses", which move from downtown Merano to the racing area. In the afternoon the traditional "Haflinger horse race" takes place. Between the individual rounds, there are always musical interludes, performances by dance groups and other performances. There is also an entertainment program for children.
Merano Flower Festival
The traditional Merano Flower Festival takes place in Merano in spring. Renowned breeders from home and abroad are expected to exhibit their most beautiful flowers and ornamental plants. The festival also offers a wide variety of workshops and courses for children and adults, plant art and discussions with experts. The festival also includes the villages of Schenna, Naturns and Lagundo.

From June 12 to 14, 2020, all of Merano will be all about street art. Top artists and musicians from all over the world come to Merano and make the Merano city center their show stage. Clowns, artists, musicians, acrobats and fire artists are just some of the attractions that await you. In addition, the Passer Promenade invites you to take a short walk to explore the art market and the traditional food stalls.
Heart of Jesus Sunday
Every year in June after Corpus Christi a very special ritual takes place in South Tyrol. Mountain fires are lit all over the country to express the special bond with the homeland.
The earliest custom dates back to the 19th century. All Tyrolean state stands met in Bolzano to discuss the situation of the French groups. It was decided that the state of Tyrol should be entrusted to the Sacred Heart of Jesus in order to ask for divine assistance. Since then, the vow has been renewed every year and the mountain fires have been kindled.

The Merano Music Weeks were launched in 1986 for the 150th anniversary of the Kusrstadt Merano. In a short period of time the festival has become very famous. The Merano Music Weeks take place every year in late summer and are held in the Kursaal. The spa town of Merano has already welcomed numerous well-known orchestras from Israel, Budapest, London, Moscow, Paris, Prague and Warsaw.
Grand Prix of Merano
The Grand Prix of Merano is the most important and at the same time also the last race on the Merano racecourse, before the official winter break. Every year in late autumn, the tournament brings numerous horse lovers, equestrian fans and competitors to the spa town. The special thing about the Grand Prix of Merano is not only the many well-known horses and riders, which appear in large numbers every year, but also the racing area: The racing course of Merano is one of the most difficult racetracks in all of Europe.
Grape Festival
The Meraner Grape Festival is the largest harvest festival in the whole of Merano and environs and is known far beyond the borders. The traditional grape festival, which has been held since 1886, celebrates the longed-for highlight of the harvest year. Numerous bands, traditional costume troops, rifle squads and spectators from home and abroad take part in the traditional parade through the old town of Merano. Around 40 festively decorated wagons, pulled by Haflingers or vintage tractors, pull through the spa town of Merano. Throughout the city there are South Tyrolean specialties to be enjoyed, fresh fruit and wine tastings and, in addition, concerts on the Kurpromende. Whether young or old, the traditional Merano grape festival has something to offer for everyone.
Merano WineFestival
Every year in late autumn the Merano WineFestival takes place in the spa town of Merano. The festival is held for 3 days and is now one of the most important wine fairs in all of Europe. Fine drops and delicacies from all over the world arrive to be tasted. However, the festival not only includes tastings, but also lectures, guided tours and award ceremonies.
In addition to the numerous wines, beers and spirits from the best breweries and distilleries in Europe are also tasted.
Merano Christmas market
The Merano Christmas market is the second largest Christmas market in all of South Tyrol . The Christmas market takes place along the spa promenade and includes 80 wooden stalls . The Merano Christmas market not only has an extensive and tempting range of gift ideas, but also includes some medieval stalls that offer very special drinks and food. You will also find some traditional stalls that offer typical South Tyrolean cuisine.

Farmer's Advent in Schenna
The Schenner Bauernadvent invites you to explore homemade art and sweets on two weekends in December. It takes place every year in the historic cellar of the Pföstl-Hof and, in addition to Christmas melodies, steaming mulled wine and typical dishes, offers a large selection of handcrafted, traditional products from locals. For the younger visitors there is also a petting zoo with dwarf goats, sheep and a pony.

The Tyrolean Castle Advent takes place every year in the unique ambience of Castle Tyrol. The Foster Christmas Forest is held every year in the Forst special beer brewery in Lagundo.
