Meran
The historic spa town on the river Passer
The health resort of Merano is located in the middle of a basin at the entrance to the Passeier Valley, Vinschgau and Adige Valley. Thanks to its sheltered location and Mediterranean climate, you will find Mediterranean vegetation with palm trees, olive trees or even cypresses, surrounded by a magnificent alpine scenery with numerous mountain peaks.
The health resort can be reached in just a few minutes via the sunny Mitterplattweg with its fantastic view over the Meran basin or comfortably by bus. In Merano's old town, medieval arcades and their shops invite you to go shopping, the promenades invite you to take a walk and the small cafés on the banks of the river Passer invite you to stop for a bite to eat. The Merano 2000 mountain railway and the botanical gardens of Trauttmansdorff Castle are also within easy reach. Today a visit to the Merano Thermal Baths with its 25 indoor and outdoor pools and the spacious sauna area, tomorrow a game of golf on one of the eight South Tyrolean golf courses, the day after a visit to one of the numerous South Tyrolean museums - the spa town of Merano is extremely diverse and captivates with numerous highlights.
The diverse cultural offerings range from the Merano Spring to the Grape Festival and Merano Christmas, from the Merano Music Weeks to the Merano WineFestival.
